I blew out the two rear speakesr for my 328i bmw (1996) its a 4 door. I've been trying to find the specks of the speakers in the back of my car. I know there a smaller speaker ( a tweeter?) and a larger one... i'm just trying to find the specks of it because i want to replace them... Also any suggestions for speakers would be nice. I'm working on approximately $200 budget and I will be doing this mostly on my own. So any help would be great.

  1. In-dash stereo

    7-1/16" depth; Size code E,S,U

    Front speakers

    Kick Panel: 5-1/4"

    Rear speakers

    Rear Deck: 4"

if you don't plan to add an amp (or are using the factory installed amp) then you need to look into speakers that don't require any more than about 35-50watts RMS and hive a high sensitivity

if you get speakers that require more RMS wattage than your radio can put out then when you turn the volume up towards halfway and higher the sound will be distorted because the radios internal amp will be over working itself trying the supply the wattage (distortion is the main cause of speaker damage), and the sensitivity is important because a speaker with a sensitivity rating that's 3 dB higher than another speaker's only needs half as much power to deliver the same amount of sound.

also get some bass blockers to protect them from bass that's too low/deep for them to handle (here are some) http://www.crutchfield.com/g_761/Bass-Bl...
