hi I've got 2 baby turtles in a nice tank with 5.0 uvb light, heater and everything.

recently spotted these spots on one of them, and seem to be spreading, i'm worried because i have no idea what they are. been wanting to take this one to the vet however cannot really afford the consultation fee. so any help on this matter would really be appreciated. thanks!

  1. Its hard to tell, but they could be defects in the shell...like scars.  They could also be the beginning of shell rot or fungal infection.  Please check out the health care section on shells here to see if it helps answer this:

  2. Try brushing them off with an old toothbrush dipped in vinegar. Just remember not to brush your teeth with it afterward.

  3. they are just scratches nothing to worry about that happened to my turtle and he still has them but hes fine

  4. probably scratches

  5. can't really tell from the photo but it don't look like a fungus growth fungus growth will look more like cotton.this one looks like pieces of the shell have fallen off sometimes turtles will bite each other on the shell, especially if they are both males.

  6. it looks like it might just be sheding im really not sure but it looks like it as they grow u might see more of them
