After reading this article, I'd like to look into purchasing a "green" tree this year. I'm contemplating traveling up to Santa Cruz to cut down my own tree this year.

Other than cutting down your own tree, what else constitutes a "green" tree?

  1. To pass muster, a farm must be inspected to ensure that it meets certain standards for managing wetlands, nutrients and pests. Water and soil conservation measures are reviewed, and biodiversity and worker safety are also considered.

  2. Buy a fake one if your that worried about it. Plus you won't kill a tree.

  3. Looks like a scam to get everybody to pay one grower who made up some green coalition a little cash to certify their farm .

Just get you tree from some group that sells them and donates part of the proceeds to charity it may not be all that green but it is in the spirit of Christmas.
