  1. The first is for inter-stellar calls and the second is the hot line to the drug dealer.

  2. whats a hash button??

  3. all phone have special codes that are only supposed to be known by experts. and what these do is they allow the expert do things quickly like deleting all files or something and to start and finnish the code they need either # or *

for example on my phone to access java activation shortcuts i would type in #*5737425# in the place where you would type in someones number and hey presto

but nearly all phones have different codes

    :)

  4. For extra functions (like on your mobile it's usually * and another key to lock the keypad) and for those annoying automated menus where you press hash after entering your customer number or whatever.

  5. not a clue, good question

  6. they are features the hpnoer company has when you call places you may call somewhere and it says enter your phon number and then hit star * or it may say enter this info and then the pound sign #, that's all

  7. The star key is * which is the same in North America.  The 'hash' key is # - both keys are on the bottom row of the telephone keypad on either side of the 0.  If you've been in Britain for just a wee while you should have figured this out by now (unless you are trying to find out how many non - Brits actually know this !)

  8. to send commands/requests to the phone provider, just like in a mobile phone, i.e. to check your balance is *174#

or to key in info like a a credit card number, the hash key means 'enter'

  9. The star [*] and pound [#] symbols are to accommodate various data services and customer-controlled calling features.
