Yes people that wear seat belts do die, but the seat belt did not cause them to die, in fact you increase your chances by about 95% when you did wear a seat belt, simply put seat belts saves lives.

I never heard of someone being killed from a seat belt.  But I have heard of people not being able to remove it after a severe crash or panic and getting killed like from a train or drowning.
