  1. The process on getting your Private Pilot rating can not be measured in years, it really depends upon the student. The FAA does have requirements on to how many flight hours you need and how much ground instruction is needed as well.  If you check out my Yahoo 360 blog I wrote all about getting your rating.

  2. No it is not hard. It also isn't figured in years. It is all in hours. You can solo, fly by yourself, after about ten hours of instruction. Look in the yellow pages to find a certified flight instructor. It would also help very much to attend a ground school. You can start learning by age 15, but can't solo or get licensed until you are 16. You also have to have a flight physical by a doctor who is a certified flight doc.

  3. 1) Get your medical certificate, which includes the student pilot license. Contact a local flight school for a list of aviation medical examiners.

    2) Enroll in a flight training course. You can start at any age.

    3) Take a ground school course, either formal or self-study.

    4) The minimum hours required are 20 hours dual flight instruction and 20 hours solo flight. The average is closer 35 / 25. You cannot solo until you are 16 and cannot earn a private license until you are 17 (in the USA).

    5) An average student, who only flies twice per week, takes 6 months to 1 year to complete the private license. I have taught a few people to fly from scratch, including ground school, in as little as 3 weeks. That was with the students flying 3-4 hours per day and hitting the books hard the rest of the time.  An extraordinary accomplishment.

    6) No, it isn't hard, but there is a lot to learn. The amount of information you need to know can seem overwhelming at first, but if you take it one step at a time it isn't so bad. If you are a lazy student and don't like to study however, or you don't have much inclination for technical subjects, it will seem hard.

  4. im taking mine right now you can go to a local airport or u can find a certified flight instructor to teach you. you could become a private pilot in a matter of monts if u have the money and time, also u need 10-20 hours until u can solo at 15 and 40hrs until ur able to become a pilot at 17

  5. --In what country?  In the US:

    Locate local airports on skyvector.com.

    Visit local airports.

    Inquire about instruction.

    Find an aviation medical examiner.

    Pass an aviation medical examination.

    Buy the study materials.

    Get scheduled for flight instruction.

    Begin flight instruction.

    Turn 16.

    Get soloed.

    Pass the written examination.

    Get trained in cross-country flying.

    Fly cross-country flights.

Train in preparation for the practical (oral and flight) test.

    Pass the practical test.

Turn 17, and you are a Private Pilot.

The ages for soloing and getting certified as a Private Pilot are 14 and 16 in gliders.

    It takes a couple months.

It can be hard getting a Private Pilot certificate.
