What are the steps taken for the energy security in India?

Having been in India recently I have seen very little being done to generate alternative energy. After all in a country with the amount of Sunshine they have it should be possible to be fairly energy efficient. But with over a billion people a lot of them living from hand to mouth it seem unlikely there will be much progress.

One big advantage you have in India as far as energy security is you don't need much energy to begin with.  Energy security is a big deal in developed countries because they are so dependent on it.  In India, much of the country can still live without modern energy if they have to.
