  1. You have to change the percent to a decimal.

To do that, move the decimal point 2 places to the left.

    So it'd be .15

To find out 15% of $20 for a tip,

    multiply the two.

    20 x .15 = 3.00

If you want to find the total dollar value of the bill,

add 20 to 3 (the tip) and you get 23.

    (:

  2. Great question.

For your tip question try this trick.

First divide the bill by 10.

So your $20 divided by 10 is $2.00

Next divide that answer by 2

    So $2.00 divided by 2 is $1.00

Add the two answers $2.00 plus $1.00 for a total of $3.00 and that is your 15% tip.

This trick only works for a 15% tip though.

Pretend you are at a sale and they are giving 35% off all summer dresses.

    Cool dress costs $100

Get your calculator out and press these keys:

    1 0 0 x 3 5 % =

The answer is $35 dollars off the price. Pretty good savings.

Pretend the dress is $149.98 now. Enter these keys:

    1 4 9 . 9 8 x 3 5 % =

The answer is $52.493 which we just round off to $52.49 savings.

All you have to do is multiply the percent times the bill or original price.

Try it, it is easy and fun!

  3. 3 dollar tip

just move the decimal point over two from the percent like this

    .15

and times it by the 20

    which is 300

move your decimal point over two to the left wich leaves you with

    3.00 thats your tip
