  1. Contact your school's guidance counsellor or website for specific advice. Each program (and often school) is slightly different.

If you are sure you want to go into Nursing instead of applying to the Faculty of  Medicine at some point, I strongly suggest you transfer directly into the Nursing program provided your school has a direct entry route (mine does, but I'm in Canada). As the pre-med program covers much more of the sciences than most nursing programs ever need, and doesn't offer any intro nursing courses specific to Nursing, you may end up wasting time and money if you don't switch early.

If your school does require a certain number of "pre-nursing" credit hours/courses before you can apply, it is your job to find out exactly what those courses are and complete them. Some programs are competitive and may require an entrance test or interview for example.

I strongly suggest you meet with a guidance counsellor at your school as soon as possible. They should be able to answer all questions as they pertain to your particular school and program (there are multiple nursing programs and designations).

The above answer is good and gives a great website.

    Good luck!

  2. first- go to an information session. almost every school that offers the RN program has information sessions a few times a month. call your school, ask to be transfered to the nursing department. then ask them when the next information session is.

information sessions can give you lots of answers. they will give you a piece of paper saying exactly what you need to do to get into the program.

start getting your vaccinations NOW if you don't already have them. especially the hepatitis b vaccine because it takes around six months to complete the series and many nursing programs will not let you in unless you have completed all of your shots. also, dig up your other shot records, you'll need them.

complete your prerequisites. those are usually anatomy and physiology, english, psychology, etc. you may have to also do things like get a letter of recommendation, a physical to show you are in good health, a drug test etc. your specific school will have it's own requirements and that should all be discussed at the information session. best of luck!

  3. AA program in San Diego, CA: prereqs are math, microbiology, physiology, anatomy.

BSN program: all that plus chemistry and a total of at least 60 GE transfer units.

Try this website there is a lot of info: www.allnurses.com

    good luck!
