Can I raise my family on the salary (ages 6, 3, and 1)? Is it fun? Are there tests? What do I study? Any advise you have would be great. Thanks

  1. I saw an opportunity in the paper one time and I had to order this $30.00 test, but then I never took it. It look kinda hard and I like my work so it's still on the kitchen table. You take different sections of the test for different jobs in the US postal system. I ordered it cuz I thought it would be fun to be a mail carrier. It still amazes me that I can spend 44 cents and mail a letter anywhere i want. It's a good deal compared to Gas in the US : ) I think they made a guesstimate of 35,000 a year but IDK salary for sure.

  2. There's no real required education for it, but it's a lot better to get your high school diploma for getting into it.

You just need the energy to work shifts, a good memory and references, and you need to be able to read quickly and accurately. They'll usually provide training on the job, but before you get to that, there will be a bit of practical and oral tests you'll have to go through.

  3. Go to the U.S. Postal website.  It's a federal government job and you do have to take a test. Good Luck!

  4. Well they usually hire casuals twice a year. Which is basically temp help, and you can go from a casual to a permanent. You are required to take a drug test, and thats about it. They'll teach you what you need to know. Easiest way is to know someone, you can also go down to the main post office in your city and find out the hiring schedule from their HR and they'll let you know when something is coming up.
