There are a few negative accounts on my credit report due to identity theft that are coming to their 7 years expiration. Since the theft I have been proactive in building positive credit. Are there any steps I should take to ensure the bureaus remove these negative accounts?

  1. i actually just looked up how to do it today. you have to write a dispute letter to the credit bureaus. here are some websites to help u out that i looked at that showed me how. myfreecredittips.com and www.mix6.com/credit. those should help u out. they will give u the address and sample letters. under the fair credit reporting act, they have 30 days to review it and remove it. i hope that helped! good luck :)

  2. Wait until you know the deadlines are up for the accounts then request your free credit report through the website below.  Request the report from all bureaus.  If the account still reports start by disputing the account online.  You will need to dispute each account with every credit reporting agency that it reports to thus insuring it is removed from each credit bureau.  In addition I would hope that you have since also signed up for a identitiy theft protection and/or added fraud alerts to your credit bureaus to protect yourself in the future.  Hope it all works out for you.

  3. I would begin disputing these immediately. More than likely the original creditors will not respond and they will just be dropped.

Otherwise, follow the free guide at http://www.CreditDisputeLetterTemplates....

  4. You can use credit repair agency to fix your credit - for example this one - http://freecreditreport.sinfree.net - They can clean lots of such bad stuff from your credit report - and do it much faster than yourself, so your credit will go up fast.
