My permit expired June 4th while I was on vacation and unable to make it back to take the behind the wheel test. When I go to renew it will I have to take the written test over and will I have to wait another six months before taking the license test?

  1. This is what I found, hope that it helps...........

REPLACEMENTS: For lost, stolen or destroyed licenses, take two forms of ID to a testing center or apply for a duplicate online.

The fee you pay will be determined by the number of previous replacements you’ve had during your current license renewal cycle.

The current fees are $8 for the first and $12 for each subsequent replacement. If the lost license would have expired within the next 12 months, you can choose to renew the license instead of replacing it.

Two proofs of residency, proof of citizenship and your Social Security number to one of the testing centers.

Tennessee Department of Safety’s 24-hour information line (741-3954) or visit the website at www.tennessee.gov/safety.

  2. The original date of your Learners licence will be on the computer...........you'll probably just have to renew it.....explain the situation to the DMV........worst case scenario is you'll have to write again..........but I doubt it, it's only been a couple of weeks since it expired..........
