What are the strenghts and weaknesses of minoan civilization?

i know that earthquake hurt them, but what else doomed them?

  1. It wasn't the earthquake that did for them, it was the massive tsunami triggered by the explosion of Santorini. It totally wiped out their coastal area and their navy. It weakened them to the point other nations could invade with little resistance. Before that they were doing just fine.

  2. Though centered on Crete, Minoans had an outpost on Thira (Santorini), which was devastated by an earthquake, that some believe was the lost city of Atlantis!

    Their dates were appx. 2400-1500 BCE, and were noted for being great architects, impeccable bureaucrats (record-keepers), though they were considered to have a barbaric edge!
