Deductive reasoning employs logic, which is like a computer in the brain.  It deduces statements and facts and comes up with a conclusion.  The strength of logic is that reasonable people can discuss or argue points of an issue and arrive at the same conclusion.  The weakness of deductive reasoning is that the major premise of the syllogism may not be true.  Hence, a false conclusion may be the result.
