Youll find anything from a mountain Chalet to ultramodern houses as well as conservative ones. For the dresses it's a mix of everything but in cities mostly very up-to-date.

It depends where you are, but most of the larger cities are heavily influenced be the neighbouring countries in terms of both architecture and fashion (France, Germany, Italy). Switzerland is a fairly wealthy country so you'll find that everything is very up-to-date and well maintained. In terms of fashion I found Lausanne, Geneva, and Zurich to be VERY trendy. Much like in North America the younger set seem to like stores like Zara and H&M and update their wardrobe fairly frequently
