  1. Accounting... get a degree in something you can fall back on, you can learn all the pilot stuff on the way.

  2. Basic Math, Geography, and definetly learn about weather!!! Oh yea and I think Communication is almost as important as knowing your weather!!

I would reccommend purchasing a copy of the 2003 Pilots Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge... The book has pretty much everything you need to know about piloting and was put out by the FAA. It is the most recent addition and def should be in your bookshelf if you plan on becoming a pilot

Here is the cheapest place to buy it... I purchase a new copy a couple weeks ago because my old one was shot for $29.99 at Barnes and Noble however just found this cheaper one at Amazon.com..... Hope this helps you and good luck with your flying!!! Don't let the costs of flying keeping you away from getting to your goal!! Loans can be paid back

  3. Science, especially Weather, Algebra, Geometry, English, etc.

And it somewhat depends on what you want to do.  If you are going to fly for an airline, you'll want to get a bachelor's degree in a business area, and then get your appropriate training to become an airline pilot.

If you are wanting to get yout Private Certificate, I'd study weather and math more than anything.  Just a thought.

  4. English, math and geography, you will need a college degree or a former member of the Air Force to become a commercial pilot

  5. Spell right

  6. They all have good answers, but they left out management. Take a management class or two because you will be responsable for managing the staff inside the aircraft with you.

  7. They will teach you everything you need to know in flight school. It is not necessary to study any special subjects while you are in school.

If you plan to fly as an officer in the Air Force or as an airline pilot, a college degree will likely be a basic requirement. But, that degree does not have to have anything to do with aviation, or any other subject matter. Study what you like, and if it complements your aviation career, that's great. If you do something different, that's great too because you will have a broader range of skills and knowledge.

If you want to get a head start on pilot specific knowledge, I like Matt's idea of acquiring some of the basic textbooks. You can download them for free on the FAA's website. The Airplane Flying Handbook, Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, Aeronautical Information Manual, and Federal Aviation Regulations are all great places to start.

Weather? You can download those books too (the Jeppesen Aviation Weather book is a lot better, but you can't beat the FAA's price, especially if you are just getting your feet wet)
