  1. Symptoms of depression can range greatly depending on the person.  Mostly, it just feels like an enormous effort to do *anything* you used to do - getting up in the morning - going to school/work, etc.  It can get to the point where there is a general 'overwhelming' feel to life because of the effort involved - a feeling that increases dramatically when something doesn't go exactly according to plan.  Of course fatigue is a given.  Irritability and angry outbursts are not uncommon.

There are three types of depression.  The first is simply being stuck in a rut/ feeling blue, etc. due to situational stress or events.  The second, which is much more common than people expect, is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain - without enough of the chemical neurotransmitters your brain needs to function, it can be extremely difficult to get through every day tasks.  Medication or other natural forms of treatment are necessary to treat this, just as a diabetic requires insulin, etc.  The third is a combination of the first two - it is called double depression.  This is the extreme at which people can begin to feel suicidal or become extremely withdrawn.
