What are the symptoms of impacted cheek pouches?

I have a russian dwarf who in the last month has never emptied his pouches. He sleeps with them packed full and has no piles of food anywhere?

  1. Well if it's new, obviously it thinks that other hamsters are gonna steal from it. Like in the wild, they store food in their cheek pouches. You don't have to worry about t hat. They will eat it. There aren't any symptoms cuz that isn't a bad thing. They aren't supposed to have piles of food everywhere. Your hamster is probably just filling, eating, refilling over and over again. You don't need to worry. You probably just don't notice! It's alright!

  2. Well the symptoms could be eyes bulging or popping depending on the amount of food in its cheeks,, to get the food out take a pare of tweezers hold your hamsters mouth open (gently) and get it out with your finger or a popsicle stick

  3. It could be because it took a nap and the food dried in its pouches if so try putting warm water in the water bottle that should break down any hardened food it may have stowed away
