  1. Millie just described the negative symptoms, ways of being that are diminished.  These same symptoms can be seen in depression and a few other disorders.  They do not make for schizophrenia.  What is necessary are positive symtpoms - hallucinations and delusions.  Hallucinations are seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling or tasting things that are not real.  Delusions are believing things that are not real, the hallucinations for example.

http://www.schizophrenia.com has a lot of info.

  2. a common symptom also is visual and auditory hallucinations.

  3. Some of the symptoms are social withdrawal, hallucinations (mainly auditory), delusions, disorganized thinking and disorganized behavior.  The prodome of schizophrenia is from ages 17-20.  This is when the disease will appear in most people.  People with schizophrenia can show signs in their childhood.  For example, as a child they may be socially withdrawn.  This is just some info I retained from school.  If you feel psychologically ill, you should seek help a.s.a.p.  You wouldn't wait to get help for a broken arm, so you shouldn't wait to get help for a mental illness.  Hope this helps!
