  1. My sensei's nose is pretty crooked from a full-contact fight years ago with a guy who landed three axe kicks.

  2. Everyone above as covered all the answers.

But I'll say mine anyway ,many years ago when I done Karate I could do the box splits so was extremely flexible and yes you could hit someones head but the main target I was taught to strike with an axe kick was either one of the collar bones, its a great kick for that but as others have said in doing it you are leaving yourself open to a counter attack.

    Best wishes :)***

  3. Primary targets are the collar bone/clavical, deltoid, forhead and top of head. Also a great kick to use to knock down the "guard", (the hands and forearms), for follow-up shots. I've seen cut forheads, orbitals, broken noses and cheeks as the result of a well placed axe-kick. Also sore necks and pectoral muscles. Assuming you could land it clean, one might expect to fracture the collar bone although in 17 years of kickboxing I've yet to see a broken bone as the result of the kick.

  4. An axe kick is usually aimed at the head or the shoulders because you are using your heel. and well, just think of what a heel to the head could do, and thats IF properly performed. Axe kicks are pretty easily avoided, and the person can counter easily from one.

  5. shoulder.. can bounce of head  breaks shoulder and can numb arm
