  1. I was taught to isolate yourself from noise, including music. Find a quiet, but comfortable place to study, with good lighting. No phone, it's a distraction, just like music or television. Repetition will commit things to memory. Also, do all the assignments, and don't get behind. Catching up is almost impossible. It doesn't hurt to study ahead a little when you can. That way, you'll learn more in class when the material is covered. Try to take lecture notes neatly, using shortcuts. Doublespacing helps, so later you can add to what you've written. If you study ahead a little, and take short and neat notes, you'll be able to pay closer attention during the lecture, learning more and easier. If you study especially well at the beginning of the course, you'll find the rest of the course is easier. This is because you learn the foundation information that is taught at the beginning is required to learn the rest of the studies. It also sets up good study habits right away. Learn as you go, don't put it off and cram. Cramming only works for short term memory, and you can't put a lot of data in it. If you keep up, then do a review before the test, you'll do great. I used to study as I went along, got to sleep early the night before a test, then get up early to do a last minute review to familiarize myself with everything I learned, and get a little extra stuff put into that small short term memory. I guess it worked, got honors and a good job with the education to keep it. Good luck.

  2. Read the words out loud. That's what I do.

  3. Try to gain an appreciation for the info that you are studying.  Also try to associate and implement some of what you're studying into your daily life.

  4. Help teach somebody else the material. You explaining it to another will help you get the basic concept ( by having to explain it)
