  1. I don't know if it would be a DNA used for genealogy purposes.  My physician told me the DNA tests used for medical purposes is not the same as the DNA used for genealogy.  Also it is a lot more expensive.

Back in the early 60s when I was living in San Antonio, a lab got my tests mixed up and they found I had the Tay Sachs gene.

But they ran a specific test on my blood specimen to find that. That was before DNA was discovered.   If you are concerned about the possibility of having certain recessive genes that could create a problem for future children, you need to talk with your physician.

Y DNA is passed from father to son only.

Mitochondrial DNA is passed from mother to both sons and daugters, but only the daughter passes it on to her children

Most of our DNA is autosomal and we get it 50-50 from both parents.  It is the only DNA that relates a female to her father or anyone to the spouses of their direct male line or direct female line ancestors.

Y & Mitochondrial in genealogy are used to match you with specific people to whom you might be related.  Autosomal DNA can give you a broad, but not specific view, of your ethnicity since it encompasses your total DNA.  It will not tell you specific countries or races you come from but will tell you if you ancestry is Northern Europeans, West African etc.
