  1. Good for you for going.  Don't tell anyone your alone - if they ask who you are with just say "friends" - Try and meet some people your age while you are there.  If you are staying in a hostel or parador you might be able to connect with a few people and then sightsee together, but be careful too - they are nice but could steal.  Hide you money in different places (mirror compact, pocket in your pants, behind a picture in the room - I always look for wierd places).

And most of all if you start to feel uneasy in your gut about a person or place...get out of there no matter what.  It doesn't matter what they think you will never see them again.

    Have fun!

  2. Always have copies made of your ID's this way you have access to another if one gets lost or stolen.  Be wary but not afraid people tend to pick on those who act afraid try to walk with your head held high and you will be fine.

  3. Spain and Italy or any country for that matter are as safe as India.

You should be alert and should not hang around anywhere in the night. Most of the crime happens at night and in whee hours of the early morning. If you can avoid going out at this time then you should not have any problem anywhere. Before leaving the hotel or wherever you are put up, remember few things.

Always carry a local map of the city.

Always carry your identity card with contact telephone no.

Keep the passport safe with the hotel reception.

Do not wear expensive watch or jewelery.

Keep local language translator book with you.

Let me wish you happy journey.

  5. Make sure you have mace, and a tazer with you at all time.

Never give your drink to a stranger, or take a drink from someone you just met.

Don't travel to any secluded area's away from groups of people.

Make sure you know how to land a solid punch. Personally I enjoy kickboxing.

Keep your passport and money with you at all times.

Remember clean underwear and your tooth brush.

Oh, and have a hella good time!

  6. You should buy me a ticket and I'll meet you there. I am a nice Italian guy and can protect you from harm.

But seriously, you should never be out alone at night, not even for a few minutes. During the day, stay away from poor neighbourhoods. Try to make sure there are always people around you. Be aware of your surroundings and if anyone is watching or following you. Bon viaggo!

  8. Hi,

I am Spanish and I have spent many years of my life abroad for different reasons.

Spain is not a dangerous place, as in all the big cities you must pay attention to crowded places or touristic areas in order to avoid being pick pocketed or robbed. I do not feel Spain more dangerous than other countries I have lived in. Spanish people are very friendly and always happy to help foreign people.

If you want advice about any special city or region do not hesitate asking

    regards

    jm

I hope this has helped you
