  2. Dublin 1,024,027 ... Cork 188,907 ....  Limerick 90,054 ....Galway 70,686 .... Waterford 47,904  (may not be upto date - but ya get the picture)

google is a great thing ya know

  3. Dublin has the greatest population of 1.5 million, as of the 2006 census, this is broken up in 4 areas though, the city has 500,000, then the city and suburbs 1 million, then the dublin region 1.1 million(city, suburbs, and entire county) then the greater dublin area, which is comprised of counties surrpunding dublin, with commuters who work in the city, is 1.5 million.

Then its Cork. the population of the city is 119,000, city and suburbs is 190,000 and the entire county is 480,000.

Then its Limerick, which popultion of city and suburbs is 90,000 and city 52,000.

thats the republic or Ireland, if you count the island as a whole, the 2nd lagest city is Belfast, which has a population of 276,000 in the city and 579,000 in the metropolitan area, ie suburbs and city.
