What are the timing marks on a 86 Ford Ranger 2.9?

I am replacing the timing gears and chain that the previous owner removed.

  1. The big gear is the camshaft gear and the small one is the crankshaft gear. There will be a notch on each of them. When the engine is at top-dead-center the notch on the camshaft gear should be pointing at the 6 o'clock position and the notch on the crankshaft gear should be at the 12 o'clock position (inline with each other).
