What are the tiny black spots that you have to wash off organic lettuce?

  1. Insect droppings and bits of soil splashed up during watering.


  2. Tiny bits of soil. Organic lettuce isn't put through the same vigorous washing as non-organic when it's been harvested so a bit of soil gets left on it. That happens with the lettuce we grow. I hate it because it's a bit gritty sometimes but it's harmless.

  4. They're probably soil which you'll need to wash off - just like you do if you grow your own!
