I've just moved to barcelona and want to spend a weekend seeing everything the city has to offer - please suggest you're favourite things to do/see if you've been here.

  1. I don't live in Barcelona, but I have visited it before. Here is a list of what I saw, and really enjoyed (not in order of preference, just a random list, I really can't decide which I preferred).

Walk around the Gothic quarters (Barri Gothic), get lost in the little streets and definitely go see the cathedral there. I found it to be very beautiful.

Go to the Picasso museum (if you enjoy Picasso, I think this one is a must. Mostly Picasso's earlier works)

    Go to the Olympic stadium.

Go to Sagrada Familia. When I was there we had to wait in line for a while to go up and I thought it was a bit expensive, but definitely worth the visit. You can walk down by using the stairs instead of the elevator, but the stairs go in a spiral, so by the time you get down you will most likely feel very dizzy.

Definitely visit the Parc Guell to see Gaudi's works. It's crowded but beautiful.

Placa d'Espana for the musical fountain. You can ask in the tourist office for the fountain's performance hours. It's a fountain that dances to music, and I thought it was really well done.

    Go to the beach!

If you like sea life go to the aquarium, it's the second biggest in Europe.

Hang around in the cafes of La Rambla.

Again if you're into modern art go see Joan Miro's museum.

Is that 10 things? If not, I think if you do all of this it will take up a weekend. Go to http://wikitravel.org/en/Barcelona for more info on museums, parks, restaurants and etc. And have fun!

Speaking of eating.  Near La Rambla de Catalunya / but on Carrier de Mallorca.  Look for green awnings.  Place is called Cervecería Catalana best Tapas in Barcelona.

ON the beach prominade, walk North away from the Olympic port.  As you get even with the McDonalds look for the Prominade resturant Escriba.  Try a dish called Fiduwa (bad spelling).  Also great Paella and other typical dishes.

  3. So much to do it would be hard to see everything that wonderful city has to offer in one weekend.  Barcelona has a lot to offer and I think you will really enjoy your time in Barcelona.  Talk with the locals and go out at night, the Spanish are very friendly.  I wish I could move to Barcelona, I just spent a month there and did not want to leave.  Me encanta Barcelona!

  4. Explore the city's sights by day including Gaudi's masterpiece, the unfinished Sagrada Família Cathedral, and Parc Güell in the north. Or maybe visit the 98,000 seater Nou Camp stadium the home of Barcelona football club. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelo... for more details
