I immediately install the following:

Adblock Plus  (restart firefox and it will come up with a "subscribe" page, click on the "view all subscriptions" and it will open a web page.  In the 2nd section of that web page select the "Easy List + Easy Element" subscription.  It will catch about 99% of all ads)

Forecast Bard Enhanced... Weather, self explanitory

Customize Google - Allows you to modify the behavior of many google pages.

No Script.  With this enabled, you have to "allow" which pages you want to allow scripts to run, which for some uses may be too much "hassle" but you'll keep your system running at top performace by only allowing the site you are on to run any kind of scripts.  

Flag Fox - displays the flag and country of where the web page you are on is located...  If you are on a page that is coming from China, Russia, France, you can pretty much assume it's some kind of scam...
