  1. Most any front wheel drive car will be good in the snow.

Car like the Volvo's and Audi's and WRX's would also be good, but expensive.

  2. Out of all the cars I have been a driver and passenger I might say that Subaru is the best in the winter. At one point I was in my mothers Subaru legacy GT wagon going through feet of snow like it wasnt even there. I felt safe and in control. As long as you have a good engine and good tires you should be ok. I drive a VW Passat and its not all wheel drive, but I have these great Nokian WR tires for all-weather and they are great for me.

The only other car that I have driven before that I really liked the winter performance is the Ford Explorer V8 SUV. I drove up an extreme un-plowed driveway and it went right up no hesitation- I tried the same driveway with my VW, and it locked its wheels and slipped all the way down (and this was after it was plowed). I think the heavier the car is the better in the snow.

  3. honda, subaru, smaller cars that are FWD or AWD1 Trucks are your worse nightmare.
