Most of them aren't nearly as good as they appear in the infomercials.  Some, after doing some research, aren't at all what they claim.  

Debbie Meyer's Green Bags:  I went to their site willing to spend the money to try these bags out. But the ordering page was not a secure ordering page.  Without that letter "s" (https) in the address line, I will never, nor should anyone, fill out any forms providing personal or credit card information.  So I did some searching and found them, not her brand, on another site.  I love them!  Hers are probably the same thing and are now available in stores.  I've seen them in Bed, Bath and Beyond.  I'm sure they're in other stores as well.

The Magic Bullet (minnie chopper/blender, etc.) is another fabulous one... also now sold in stores.  I did some research first before purchasing, including talking to several people who had one.

That's all I can personally attest to.  You really have to research ANY product you're considering buying, especially if it's a little higher priced.  And use Google to look for certain ones... not for the site that sells them, but for comments from people who have purchased them.

There was some household insect spray or something like that, I did some research on.  Between asking people and the internet, I found out it would have been a lot of money spent, for an inferior product.

The thing about "as seeon on TV" ads is, that they are made to look incredibly convincing, but beware, and be cautious.

If a known and respected label is pushing a new product.... those you can pretty much count on being top quality... but still ask questions before taking out your credit card.

GINZU KNIVES - they were the first as seen on tv ads

and still show up every now and then

that, or the CHIA pets, that show up every Christmas

There are even STORES that now sell the "as seen on Tv" stuff that are named "as seen on tv"
