I'm thinking about staring a non-profit organization I'm only 16 but I want to create a organization giving back to the people who are in poverty?

I think you made a typo but I'm not sure what it was.  You asked what the top ten *countries* in poverty within the U.S.  The U.S. is one country, so you either meant in *counties* or you meant were asking for countries other than the U.S.?

First, take a geography class, there is only one country in the United States, unless you are a states rights advocate and adhere to the strict definition of state, then it is 50 I suppose.

Currently there are 37 millions americans living in Poverty that's approx 1 in 8 Americans. It's a national disgrace.

A worthy goal. Now, here's a little splash of the water of reality to your face. First, we are awash in this nation with non-profit organizations who are in the business of helping the poor. And all of them compete like crazed animals for government grants to keep them in business. So, you will be joining an already crowded field which has a lot of organizations who don't appreciate any competition.

I did a year as a VISTA volunteer dealing with the homeless problem in my area. One of the things which discouraged me was the large numbers of charities working at cross purposes trying to deal with the problem. Take it from me. That sort of atmosphere is not part of the solution. It's part of the problem. So, start in your own community. Start small. Stay focussed on what you want to do and not on how to get that next government grant.

you can research this on the Internet.

best to learn how  to do this basic research before you begin  this huge  and wonderful project. there is a lot of research involved.

and there are likely some  project near you where you can volunteer or work  to learn the steps and what it takes.
