I mean this in terms of recognition - they're not necessarily the best.

Well, "best" is really an opinion.  I happen to think that Lunasa, Teada, and Altan are, though I'd also want to throw in Danu and Solas.

I don't know 3 Irish bands, but I did see a really good band a few weeks ago called Bangers and Mash. very good music they had everybody dancing
