  1. Hey,

Just wanted to answer to ed s that his answer racist choked me a lot. Are u French to judge "North African immigrants" which are not immigrants but French like any other French in this country and helped to build the country after World war II.

Then, I think u mean Paris is divised between two "rives". Rive Gauche and Rive Droite. It depends the side of the river "La seine" you are. The both are quiet nice to visit and you don't have to be affraid to walk in Paris because its a quiet city. In france we say that Rive gauche is less a popular borrough than Rive droite... It's up to you to see.

  2. Who told you there were only two? Paris is a very cosmopolitan city, and if your teacher told you that there are only "two culturally diverse sections of Paris, France", I wish I could have a word with him or her. I used to live near Marcadet-Poissonniers métro (subway) station, which is located near better-known Barbès-Rochechouart, in northern Paris (18th arrondissement, or "district"). That whole area has a large community from the Maghreb (Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, etc), from sub-Saharan Africa, eastern Europe, former French colonies in Asia (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia), etc. And France has two "Chinatowns", one in the 19th arrondissement near Belleville, and the other in the 13th arrondissement. I hope this helps.

  3. As long as you don't go to Villiers le Bel (where North african immigrants just caused intense riots and attacked the police)

North Paris is not known and not worth to see unless you want to see the hidden side

  4. Le Marais (the Jewish Quarter) and Le Quartier Latin (the Latin Quarter).  Both are equally beautiful and full of life, but very different culturally.

  5. Are you by any chance in my French-1 class at Bloomington HS South? If you aren't, I would very much like to know where you thought of these interesting questions.
