I have a female rabbit of about 6 months old. I have noticed that she has two folds of swollen irritated skin around her privates. (sorry computer library) I have googled it, and cant find or understand anything. I am wondering it if something she needs a vet for or if its normal in rabbits. If I cant find an answer soon its off to the vet she goes, i just dont want to look like the idiot I am.

  1. by the sounds of it, your female is a male. Hence the 'flaps' of swollen skin, in other words the testicles. Get it to the vet to have it sexed properly. And if you have named 'her', maybe start thinking of another name, lol

    good luck

EDIT: If you have never owned rabbits, how do you know they arent tescticles? Being that your rabbit is still only 6 months of age, the testicles will still be relatively small sacs.

  2. Sounds like your bun is a he. Male buns have testicals that become noticable around 4-5 months old

  3. your she could be a he. ask a vet to s*x it.

  4. Many forest mammals have evolved flaps of skin that act like wings enabling them to glide from tree to tree. Bats, however, are the only mammals capable of powered flight. A bat's wings are highly modified front legs, with four extremely long fingers that work like the spokes of an umbrella, opening up to support the wing. The remaining finger, which is much shorter, has a hooked claw and is often used for grooming the fur.

Anyways, it is either a rabbit that was taken from the forest, or its mother was taken from the forest, or your rabbit may be a male: The flaps of 'Swollen' skin might well be your male rabbits testicles.

Although your rabbit could still be a she and just have cut herself or gotten an infection.

  5. does your bunny have a noticeable bump under  her chin  like on her breast bone    that's called a dewlap and is an indicator of  a female.   you sound like the bun is a boy   hope you named it a generic name!   even if it is a boy you should take it to the vet and have it spayed/neutered.   prevents uterine cancer  and makes the animal more docile and friendly
