  1. July and August. July after Julius Caesar, August, for his adoptive son and first emperor of Rome, Augustus. After Julius was "honored" by having a month named after him, his son wanted no less and felt that he deserved the same about of days as his father, so he added a day. Because of this February is only 28 days, 29 every for 4 years.
