  1. Computers are used for many different things. Most importantly to keep track of your account information. Here is a list:

    1. Account Name

    2. Account Address

    3. Identifications (ie, social security #, driver license #)

    4. Account Balances

    5. Generate Statements

    6. Transfer money from institutions

    7. Submit payment info to credit institutions.

    8. Record all transactions made by you.

    9. This list can be longer but I have listed the major items so far. Need more just ask.

    :)

  2. Personally, I've never worked in a bank but I do know a few ways how they would help.

First, storing customers account information on a server or other computer is one way. It's easier to access or change the information compared to the old fashioned way of writing it on a piece of paper and placing it in a filing cabinet. Modern computers can store so much more information nowadays. An employee can also check a customer's account balance instantly. Accounting software makes it easier for businesses.

Of course, the simplest way is for number crunching. Computers can solve billions of complex mathematical operations in fractions of a second.

Computers can be used for user authentication. Computers can be used on a network to instantly contact other branches. When you use an ATM, you are using a networked computer terminal. This is true no matter what ATM you are at.
