A fan coil unit is the part in an air conditioning system that receives compressed refrigerant, it sits in the air handler (fan), as warm/humid air passes thru it, the refrigerant aborbs the heat (air gets cooled), water vapor collects on the chilled tubes and fins, and drains out (air gets dryer).

    There is much more to an a/c system, but I'd be typing all day!
