In UP Chipko andolana to conserve the forests. When the woodcutters came to cut the trees then the people who wanted to save the tree they hug the tree and ask the woodcutters to cut their heads first and then cut the tree after that.

In Maharashtra some areas of the forests are called as DEORAI and it is believed to be owned by some goddess. No body is allowed to cut any of the tree from this sacred area, thus helping to conserve that particular forst area.
