  1. Mount Rainier is a stratovolcano, which means it is a tall, steep, and conical volcano. Mauna Loa, on the other hand, is a shield volcano. It is shaped like a shield, because its lava is extremely fluid (it has low viscosity), and its slopes are not steep.

    Mount Rainier is also more snow capped than Mauna Loa since it has higher altitude than the wider Mauna Loa.


  2. From what I can see, Mt. Rainier has much steeper slopes and is much more snow covered than Mauna Loa. That is two visible differences.
