One of my friends got into it pretty bad with her mother and they are not speaking right now. She has a younger brother and sister that she is very close with and her mother wont let her see them. She is 23 and her siblings are both under 5. What can she do to get some kind of visitation rights for her siblings? Is there anything at all she can do so that she can still be able to be in contact with them and get to see them? By the way, she lives in California. I have tryed looking it up but all I am finding is rights for Grandparents.

  1. There are a few (not many) states that have ‘sibling visitation rights’ but I’m fairly certainly CA is not one of them, which means all she can do is be real nice to her parents and hope they’ll agree to allow visitation.

Tell her to check with a local attorney for verification.  Many will offer a free initial consultation.
