What are the ways that Singapore must do in order to bring in more medals for the country in the olympics?

I personally think that they should expand their 'Team Singapore' by sending in more singapore-born athletes to play in more sports like basketball,diving and gymnastics.I am also wondering why singapore doesn't have much athletes who are originally born in Singapore.Is it because that the people of Singapore are more academically-oriented than sports-oriented?
