Compost your kitchen scraps.  Recycle plastic and paper and metal.  Make one trip do many things, rather than taking one trip for each errand.  Drive the speed limit.  For every five miles you go above 55, you lose 5% of your fuel efficiency.  If your finances allow, buy a car that gets good mileage, but don't count on the manufacturer's stickers for the mileage.  Go to a site that tests cars and find out what they say.  The EPA allows the car manufacturers to lie about their mileage if they meet certain conditions.  Put a wind turbine on your house.  They have compact versions that look fine and can easily power your house plus leaving enough to sell back to the electric company.  Buy green, but check it out first and make sure they're not just using it as an ad technique without anything real behind it.

I think a lot of this Green house gas is c**p. I said a lot not all

. We in America are bending or backwards to try and cut gases and a lot of other countries are not doing a doggone thing. Like China they don;t give c**p. I do beleive the left wing tree huggers are over playing this issue. I believe it is a natural process.

carpool, reduce using private cars, use renewable energy ie. solar/hydro energy (tho the problem then will be the cost), reduce open burning (or ban it completely)

RECYCLE STUFF. both waste and things you don´t want any more. it´s usually much more eco friendly to re-use materials instead of making new.

TURN OFF YOUR STUFF. computers, stereo, DVD etc. they

are usually on "standby" mode and it uses a lot of electricity. turn it off on the wall plug or get a multi socket with a switch to turn it all off at once, at least at night.

USE LOW ENERGY LIGHT BULBS. they use a lot less energy and also saves on your electricity bill in the long run (if you don´t break them!)

USE YOUR CAR LESS. (if you have one of course) . bicycle (get a good one so it´s good fun!), walk, take the bus or train. if you drive, learn to drive more economicaly. for example, cut your speed, drive more even (don´t step hard on the pedals if you don´t need to), make sure you have the correct air pressure in the tyres (check the manual). get into a car pool and share the car with others.

if you drive a diesel you can modify it to drive on used cooking oil and get it for free at your local hamburger franchise or chinese take-away, that´s cool!!

BUY LOCALLY GROWN FOOD. saves on gas for transport

BUY LESS STUFF. saves your money and the planet.

STOP USING PLASTIC BAGS. did you know that large parts of the Pacific Ocean are covered in plastic waste? check the web!

USE GREEN ELECTRICITY. phone your electricity company and ask how much sustainable (green) electricity they produce. check around for the best one, or demand that they do better, or else..!!

HAVE SHORTER SHOWERS and not so hot. better for your skin and the planet.

PLANT A TREE. or a lot of them, or send money to somebody who does.

INSULATE YOUR HOUSE. saves your wallet and the planet.

TURN DOWN THE HEATING. saves energy and money. buy an extra blanket for sleeping. get wooly slippers!

OPEN THE WINDOW if it´s too hot, instead of using AC. in your car too!!

GET SOLARPANELS  for the house or talk to the owner if you have a flat or apartment. check if you can get a grant from the local authorities.

INVEST in companies that work with sustainable energy production or research. it´s booming!!

POLITICS. demand that your local parlament representative or senator do something. NOW!!

START TALKING. check the web for info (there is a lot out there!!) and start talking to people. join a group and do something together. more power and fun too.

JOIN an organization that is already working with these issues.

By having all the politicians shut up because the bull c**p they are spouting is putting out a wide carbon footprint. The 2ND thing we could do is to outlaw all volcano's as they are the biggest carbon polluter in the world then as per Peta outlaw all cows as they produce the same problem as the politicians

I know that if I pass gas I can go by the furnace and the gas is not wasted.

If you can walk, don't drive.

If you MUST drive, try carpooling.

If you can't get a ride, buy a hybrid or something like that.
