  1. The base of my fins on my Thrusters that have glassed-on fins.

  2. Well, I have cracked my board in half if you want to call that a crack.  I was trying to get down the wave from a floater and I under estimated the size of the wave and once I went down I just dropped and landed and the board broke in half.  Most of the time though it's just tons of pressure marks that pile up and cause a crack.  Shells, coral and rocks are usually good ways of cracking it.  Also, do not leave your board out in the sun or your board will crack faster.

  3. sharks teeth

  4. cracks their called dents but usually rocks and cracks i guess are just stress cracks but if you have a lot of them i would bring it to you local shop and make sure its water tight yeah and just old board tend to crack when the fiberglass is exposed to the sun for a long period of time

  5. there are a lot of different ways. it happen alot when you have big ways and really heavy waves, also when theres rocks or a reef. it happens when people get bad (smash board). some time it will pressor crack if it hits the sand hard.

  6. Thats pretty vague, there is a lot of ways and a lot of places. If you mean how, well, anything from rocks to burying the nose in the sand to a shark (unlikely) to hitting it on your car (yeah, you've all done it, don't lie).

For the type of crack, theres a lot. I guess most common would be a ding, basically just a puncture. Theres pressure dents, or you could just break your board. You could also crease the nose or tail.

Basically, you want to make sure your board is watertight. Otherwise, water will leak in and rot the foam (not overnight, but it happens). So if its dinged, get it fixed (unlike pros, who just throw it out and get a new one). As a side note, you know that the Volcom House on the North Shore once held over 300,000$ worth of surfboards? That makes you feel great when going to fix a ding for the third time.
