One of the pipes has been dripping water steadily for the last month. I think it is attached to the furnace. Is this normal?

  1. This is an emergency drain. It's telling you that the primary drain is backed up in your a/c.CHECK IT OUT.ASAP!

If it is not a stand alone drain at your front or back porch,it may be your primary drain.I didn't read the question corrrectly.

  2. just AC

  3. It is attached to the furnace. One is an air intake and the other is an exhaust. The dripping is normal.

  4. If it is connected to the furnace, then yes, it's normal.  It's just condensation that builds up near the end of the pipe and then drips onto the ground.   The white pipes are just vents from probably whatever you have in the basement that makes heat that needs to have an avenue for escape.

  5. Can be one of two. If water is dripping, maybe attached to furnance and if air conditioner is on then this condensation. Two, may be connected to the hot water  heater and should not be dripping. You need to find out exactly what it is connected to.

  6. Most of the time the pipe you see is from the drip pan for the A/C Unit. If the auxiliary pan has water in it the main evaporator pan is stopped up are blocked somewhat. The auxiliary catches the excess water so not to damage the Sheetrock etc. When it gets cooler you might want to check the main pan. As long as it is draining to the outside I would not worry about it to much.

  7. The water heater overpressure valve might have a slow leak. Is your water older then 10 yr? You might want to replace the valve.
