  1. I think chocolate covered cockroaches definitely qualify.  I think they're an African delicacy.  And they also eat grashoppers, and spiders, and they eat these in some of the Asian countries as well.  EWW!

  2. Maybe not so weird but, Vietnamese fry up whole fishes and eat the meat along with the tail and there's usually a fight over the eyeball.

  3. Balut -Philippines/Cambodia/Vietnam (Hard boiled duck eggs with baby ducks inside)

Rocky Mountain Oysters- America (Bull testicles)

Bird's Nest Soup - China (Soup made out of swift's nests which the swifts make out of their salavia)

    Chapulines - Mexico (Grasshoppers)

    Kangaroos - Australia

    Bovine Urine - Kenya/Tanzania

    Escargot - Continental (Snails)

    Caviar - Continental (Fish eggs)

    Squid/Octopus - Continental

    snakes - china

    starfish

    cockroaches

    snails

    raw fish

  4. Here is a few of the wierdest I've heard of...

    Escargo is just stupid

Still-born chicken eggs (the chick has started to develop)

    Live squid

    Be'Dak (fermented fish paste)

    Bug-flavored candies

Canadian Smoked Meat Sandwiches (I hear they are to die for, but no one can tell me what animal the meat comes from)

  5. Most of my list was similar to Tom K's.

A veritable worth list of the most gross things you can swallow!

    Pass the vomit bag!

Oh, for Australia, the Four 'N Twenty pie is a bummer, so are wichety grubs!

Bull's p***s with seasonal vetetables in Da Nang, Vietnam.  I had the chicken!

  6. Oceanian (mahori culture): ancient fafaru

Very fresh raw fish (tuna, parrot-fish) dices marinated a few hours (2 hours for a light one, 8 hours if you like it strong, or until some maggots appear if you like it ancient) in "fafaru water", wich is the filtered result from the fermentation of fresh water shrimps left 2 days in salt water (in a jar).

No seasoning, allthough some use garlic or lemon juice.

Tried once the strong one prepared for a traditional meeting. For a westerner, it tastes and it feels like it smells. Very safe food as much toxins are degraded in the process.

Nuoc Mam results from lactofermentation in closed jars, and is like honey compared to fafaru.

See recipe in the source link.
