  1. Washburn- Close to being done however the mariners want at least a good prospect AND for the yanks to take washburns salary. Its stalling but its most likely.

Bannister- Its their backup plan if they dont get washburn. Wouldnt be a bad pickup at all.

Burnett- This is a fairly new rumor the yanks might get him but i personally think its garbage.

lets hope they make a move Go yanks

  2. trade A-rod for a bowl of chili

  3. They've already handled their most pressing needs and done it with bargains I didn't think they could get. Frankly, I didn't think they'd make too many moves, maybe a DH, but not much else. I wasn't expecting to get such good deals on Ponson, Sexton, Marte and Nady. Don't get me wrong, I like the guys they gave up, but give what they got back and what they still have in the minors, it was a very affordable price.

The other thing they've been considering is another starting pitcher. That's kind of a luxury, not a necessity, as they have a solid top 3 in Moose, Pettitte, and Joba. Nobody expected them to be this good this year, but they are all doing amazingly, especially Moose, with his new pitching style. For now they have Ponson, who is a good #4 and Rasner who is an adequate #5. On their way back, they have Wang (their #1 starter), Pavano (if he manages to pitch at all, which is a rare sight, he's really good), and Hughs (this time with glasses, he'll probably do better if he can see the plate). Kennedy has done well enough that he could compete for a #5 position, but it probably won't happen until next year.

So they may trade for another guy to help out while they await Wang and to make their aces/quasi-aces go 5 deep instead of 4 when he comes back, as well as to use as an insurance policy in case someone else goes down or hits a slump late in the season, but they don't have to. I think they'll stick with their current plan and make a deal only if they get the kind of bargains they've found lately. Don't look for them to trade Horne or any of their other top prospects no matter who is offerred.

Washburn is considered the most likely deal. They can get him cheap (in terms of players) because the Mariners want to free up the salary and the Yankees can afford it, especially with all the payroll they'll be dumping next year.

  4. I personally don't think the rotation has been too awful lately, and if they couldn't get Washburn, it wouldn't be a tragedy. But Rasner is still shakey and slightly unreliable, so we may need Washburn in that department. It looks like a pretty done deal as of right now, too.

But my question is, what happens when Wang returns in a month? You'll already have a five man rotation, with five established starters. If Washburn is successful, and Ponson is doing as well as he is right now, you can't very well send them away. I think they should keep the rotation as is, for now, with the intention of adding Wang back in come September 1st, in place of Rasner. I really don't think Washburn is needed.

Other than that trade, after Sexson, Nady, and Marte, they've done pretty good things this season, and have fulfilled their needs. I think they're done.

  5. what there gonna do is try to get washburn  or another pitcher and maybe a catcher

  6. they are only getting washburn because he gets paid 14million a year and they are only giving one guy for him i think they should go after a good picther like ben sheets (he is a free agent next year) they can also get K Rod he is a free agent next year too they current closer is 38 so yea
