I'm not asking about fancy places where you go to drop tons of cash - I'm talking about great food at reasonable prices. I am interested in all types/ethnicities of food.

  2. You're in luck! Vancouver is known for its affordable little eateries - each one more interesting than the next. You definitely want to spend some time on Davie St. and Denman St. - both are downtown and within walking distance of each other. There are countless little restaurants lined up side-by-side, where you can get full, cheap meals, in cool, atmospheric places.

Here is a list of some of my favourites:

    1. Stephos: a fun Greek restaurant with a pretty good staff (get there early or make a reservation - there is always a line-up of 100 people).

    2. Milestones: a little more upscale, but definitely affordable with a wide-ranging menu and killer desserts! Plus, it has a great view of the ocean and heating lamps on the patio.

    3. I also like this place called "Café Sette" on Burrard St. - it's a little cafe by day (with soups, paninis, that sort of thing), and an intimate little lounge by night - cheap martinis, and good appetizers.

    4. I just recently discovered this place on Denman St. called “Capstone Tea and Fondue.” I thought it was so cool and original. It’s a café really, with baked goods, sandwiches, but that specializes in fondue (cheese, and chocolate), and exotic teas. They’ve turned it into a casual little lounge – I can’t quite describe it – it’s just very cozy.

    5. “GUU” is a fun place if you like Japanese food. They have the revolving sushi bar, and also an “upstairs” where you have to take your shoes off and sit on the floor with low tables! I always order tons of appetizers and share them with friends – it’s the best way to try all their goodies – and don’t worry, you won’t leave hungry!

    6. Also, if you’re in the city and you want to dine out, you must try “Death by Chocolate” – there are locations everywhere. Killer deserts for fairly cheap.

  3. Yummy is Fasolis in Vancouver BC...mmmm...food.

  4. check out the recommendations mapped out at http://www.eatsleepgo.com/BritishColumbi...

    I like Go Fish.

  5. Best restaurant in town is "Baru Latino".  It's not formal, but it is a bit pricey, especially if you want to drink too.

There are several good sushi places, including "Sushi Garden" and "Toshi".

"Burgoo" specializes in soups and stews, and is excellent.  The "Tango 8 Grill" has good Argentine food.

  6. Any of the Pho Hoa locations.  Great Pho noodle soup at a really reasonable price.

  7. The NAAM in Kitsilano is a well-established vegetarian restaurant that's open 24 hours and serves great food at reasonable prices, in an ethics-conscious eatery.  A long time favourite - try the miso gravy!!

I also love La Bodega downtown. They serve Spanish tapas and killer sangria - go with a bunch of friends and share your dishes.

And if you like dim sum (who doesn't?) go to the Pink Pearl on Hastings.

I haven't lived in Vancouver for 8 years now, but those were my favourites then and they're still around now, as they are tried and true favourites (reasonably priced) of many people in Vancouver.

  8. Chin Chin! I think because that's were A-List stars eat. Haven't tried it though. But thats not the answer... I would say across Futureshop Granville their is a Japanese Restaurant. Its pretty cheap and has free ice cream after meal.

  9. kam's singaporean cuisine ..downtown in the westend on davie street

  10. The Thai House!
