What are these black squares you see in the center of the lane on highways they are about 14 inches sqaure?

  1. In the center line? They could be some kind of reflector or sensor of some kind. It really depends on where this highway is. If they are not a regular shape or spacing, they could be patches.


  2. If you mean those blocks in front of the lights they are censors that tell the light when there is a car waiting at the light.  It will not turn green until there is a car on the sensor

  3. Those are sensors that judge speed, congestion, temp etc.

    Many times you will notice a turnaround spot for the enforcer near there as well! The radar gun plus sensor and or camera and they can get ya twice as good.
