  1. First of all, ALL your cables are coaxial except the fiber optic cable. But they do have different preferred uses and applications.

Red, white, and yellow is a composite cable. The yellow is what transmits composite video (the worst way to move video in your system. The red and white are for stereo analog audio.

Single composite cable which is yellow at both ends is the same as the yellow cable in the red, white, and yellow one. Composite video.

Coaxial cable is probably for digital sound. As I said all cables are coax but some do higher frequencies better than others.

Fiber optic cable. another way to move digital sound through your system. For digital sound there is no difference between coax and fiber optic. They simply use a different format to accomplish the same thing. Audiophiles prefer coax but I have both hooked up and can't tell the difference.

To move sound digitally (the best way) there are only 3 choices, coax, fiber, and HDMI. HDMI is prefered.

HDMI is a 19 strand or wire cable to move DIGITAL video and sound. HDMI is preferred for all applications. If you can use HDMI use it. HDMI is the only way to move hi-def sound and the only way to move digital video.

In order from best to worst:

    HDMI   video and audio

Component (red, green, and blue) video only

Composite (yellow, red, and white) or yellow only.

Also there are 3 ways to move digital sound: HDMI, coax, and fiber optic. HDMI is preferred. Coax and fiber optic are tied for second best. They both move 5.1 sound. Digital is MUCH preferred over analog sound.

Use the HDMI from your DVD player to your TV. It will give you the best picture. Also use either coax or fiber optic to your sound bar for best sound. Save the rest you may need them someday.
