    The three wing planes (like the Red Baron's Fokker) are Triplanes.

  3. well the catagory is called a bi-plane. As far as the specific model.. I have no idea. You could research what were the common types of bi-planes used to deliver US mail around ww2.

  4. The airplane in the photograph is a DeHavilland DH-4. The picture was taken at Santa Paula Airport in the late '60s-real early '70s. The pilot is Bill Hackbarth, who restored the aircraft. It's sitting in a museum somewhere today.
